On Sexual Transmutation (The Honest Answer)
So.
We’ve all seen the word. Probably came in through a productivity YouTube or a NoFap subreddit. Napoleon Hill used it in Think and Grow Rich, 1937. Channel sexual energy into ambition, build empires, close more deals. A lot of guys ran with that.
And honestly, it’s not nothing. The basic observation is real. There’s an energy and you can work with it instead of dumping it. But the productivity version is thin. It’s using a nuclear reactor to charge a phone.
The thing underneath it is stranger and older and weirder than any self-improvement framework wanted to admit.
The yogic traditions have a concept: ojas. The refined form of sexual energy, transmuted through brahmacharya. Not repressed. Refined. Turned. Offered in a different direction. The Taoists built an entire inner alchemy on it: jing (sexual essence) becomes qi (vital energy) becomes shen (spirit). Three octaves. Same substance, ascending. Same energy at different vibrations, the way water and steam are the same thing and aren’t.
Kundalini is the same insight from another angle. The energy at the base that everyone treats as purely sexual is the same energy that rises through the whole system and eventually wakes you up. Same energy. Different octave.
And then you get to Almaas and Adi Da and the thing starts to burn hot in a way that’s harder to fit on a YouTube thumbnail. Almaas calls it Divine Eros. The force that reaches toward the beloved is the same force that reaches toward the Real. Adi Da went further: eros fully alive, fully offered, doesn’t terminate in the body. It’s the love that won’t stop anywhere. It keeps going.
That’s the spine. Eros and spirit are not two things. They’re one energy at different octaves, and transmutation means learning to play the whole instrument.
The productivity version gives you a fraction of this. The NoFap version often just adds shame back in, which is the opposite of the teaching. The real traditions were talking about something that could level you. That could open you. That doesn’t end in a better morning routine.
We’re not telling you to do a practice. We don’t do that here.
We’re just saying the word is real. The thing underneath the word is real. And most of the people using the word have no idea what they found.
Some of us do.
